Narendra Singh was hit by a bus he and and a group of protestors were not allowing the bus to pass the Ambala Depot. His death created a fervor with many protestors damaging vehicles of Ambala's Deputy Commissioner of Police and SHO of the Baldev police station area. AITUC general has also claimed that the leader was stabbed instead of being run over by the bus. While there has been little impact in West Bengal, shops are shut in Kerala and transportation and other services have been shut. The strike is based on demands of price-rise control, better social security for all employees and strict enforcement of labour laws at work place.
