KSRTC’s and BMTC’s strike hit many of those who rely on Public transport for commuting. While the strike partially affected districts not under KSRTC, others under KSRTC were severely affected. The government had no mechanism to counter the strike and in desperation, police provided vehicles to help people commute and the officials convinced private bus drivers to ride state-owned buses. However, resistance forced these drivers to withdraw because they did not have the license to drive public vehicles. The Principal Secretary (Transport) has now called a meeting with Road Transport union leaders to overcome the issue.
