Training programs teach them how to use statistics and records for explaining reasons of not giving pay hikes, bonuses or giving the pink slip. They are taught to encourage meaningful conversations with employees to instill confidence that lack of pay hikes is a phase and that their loyalty and retention would be in future duly rewarded. They are also taught to be objective while delivering the bad news.
