Concerning statistics on Indian workforce revealed by NSSO - October 22, 2012

23-Oct-2012 - In a survey by NSSO (National Sample Survey Organisation) some concerning statistics describing Indian labor-force have been revealed. 93% of the labor is in the unorganised sector, 30 million unemployed, 26 million under-employed, 40 million seek additional work and 35 million are looking for alternative means of livelihood.

In a survey by NSSO (National Sample Survey Organisation) some concerning statistics describing Indian labor-force have been revealed. 93% of the labor is in the unorganised sector, 30 million unemployed, 26 million under-employed, 40 million seek additional work and 35 million are looking for alternative means of livelihood. The statistics also show gender disparity in the workforce and 86% of contribution to GDP comes from service sector, but it only employs 47% of the population.
