With 4 states of Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Rajasthan declaring drought in many constituencies, an Empowered Group of Ministers will discuss the proposal to increase employment days under MGNREGA Scheme from 100 to 150. Citizens generally avail the scheme when they are seasonally unemployed from farming, and with the drought hitting many areas of the country this year the proposal aims to ensure subsistence to affected communities. The government has also allocated 33000 crore as against 31000 crore last year to the scheme.
