The government is considering hiking Dearness Allowance (DA) from 72% to 80%. It would benefit 50 lakh employees and 30 lakh people on pension on pay from Central Government. The DA was last hiked in September the previous year. If the proposal is accepted, the hike would be effective from January 2013.
