Major criticism has been coming from the media fraternity regarding the govt. plan of setting up a statutory wage board to decide the salary of newspaper employees. The media believes that it would be in the government's own interest to restore this basic freedom to the Press as setting up of the wage board will not only pressurize the Press but also subvert their very basic freedoms, by making the Press unviable.
