The Sexual Harassment Bill (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal), 2010 has been passed in Lok Sabha and it addresses all employees including domestic workers. Non-compliance to the provisions may result in a fine of INR 50,000 and repeated violations may lead to cancellation of licenses, registration, and similarly harsh penalties. The provisions also mandate workplaces such as hospitals and institutions to keep an internal redressal mechanism.
