Safety has become a concern among students interested to be recruited by Maruti after 1 executive was killed and 80 were injured when violence broke out in Manesar. 50 out of 300 applicants have backed out from a test Maruti conducts every year in DTU to recruit freshers. Students at BITS (Pilani) are not as keen to work with Maruti like earlier and wariness about the working environment and conditions are the top reasons, as reported by students in placement committees at both DTU and BITS (Pilani). Maruti’s management has however denied any such reasons and even state that the number of students applying has increased this year.
