PSU bank employees may strike against the proposed Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill - December 18, 2012

19-Dec-2012 - 5 lac Bank employees have threatened to strike on 20th December against the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill that seeks to merge banks.

5 lac Bank employees have threatened to strike on 20th December against the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill that seeks to merge banks. The All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI), All India Bank Officers' Association (AIBOA) and National Union of Bank Employees (NUBE) have together laid this threat, saying that this Bill is bad for the economy. They are of the opinion that the neo liberal reforms of the government are attempting to liberalise and privatise the banking sector. The bill has not been taken up in Lok Sabha amidst much protests and a strike in August.
