A World Bank (WB) report has given some statistics such as, part time work is rising in India; share of informal workers in the organised sector has increased from 32% in 2000 to 68% in 2010; temporary workers have grown by 10% in 2009 and 18% in 2010; on an average a 35 year old firm’s productivity only doubles while the labour force reduces by a quarter. The report has suggested that to create jobs, especially global jobs, labour policies should be less stringent for labour reallocation. It also said that about 7 million get added to the labour market every year and labour market institutions should be dismantled for providing jobs to this growing workforce.
