Worker helpline to be launched by CM on Labour Day

On the occasion of Labour Day, which falls on May 1, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit will launch a toll-free ‘Shramik Helpline’ aimed at combating child labour and handling complaints from workers. Described as a first-of-its-kind initiative, the helpline number 12789 will be functional between 7 am and 8 pm initially, the Delhi government said on Tuesday.

NREGS to provide skill development to workers

The Prime Minister’s National Council on Skill Development (NCSD) is considering recommending to the Rural Development Ministry that the UPA’s flagship rural job guarantee scheme (NREGS) be widened to include providing “skill development” to unskilled wage seekers.

Narendra Modi to launch skill voucher for unemployed

Chief Minister Narendra Modi will give 'skill vouchers' to first five trainees in Surat on Thursday to mark the beginning of a new trend of capacity building of unemployed people in the Gujarat. Claimed to be a first-of-its-kind in the country, the scheme will be under the wings of Department of Labour and Employment and run by the Gujarat Skill Development Mission (GSDM) chaired by Modi.

75 positions of court managers sanctioned by the Uttar Pradesh govt.

With a view to help increase work efficiency of courts, the Uttar Pradesh government has sanctioned posts of 75 court managers. The duration of the posts will be till February 28, 2015, as per the recommendations of the 13th Finance Commission, a release issued here said on Tuesday.

NSDC in talks with India Inc for skill development projects

Plan to hire 1,400 executives by October: Coal India

Maharatna firm Coal India is set to hire 1,400 executives by October to bolster its workforce, ahead of crucial expansion and other projects. "We will recruit about 1,400 management trainees by October this year and will flash advertisements for vacancies by early next month," a Coal India Ltd (CIL) official told PTI.

Uttarakhand govt. to provide 50,000 jobs this year

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Wednesday said his government has fixed a target of providing 50,000 jobs to the people this year. "The government will provide 50,000 jobs to the people this year and is working in this direction," he said after inaugurating six development works worth Rs 2531.48 lakh in Rudraprayag district.

Govt. releases new norms for appointment of relatives in companies

The government has released norms for appointment of relatives in companies, a decision that will allow directors or managers to engage services of close ones without seeking permission of the Centre. A company, however, will be required to seek the permission of the central Government if monthly payment made to relatives is more than Rs 2,50,000, the Corporate Affairs Ministry said in a notification.

Centre revises minimum wages by Rs.15

The Centre has revised the minimum wages, payable for any work, coming under the schedule of employment, by Rs.15 per day and fixed the new National Floor Level Minimum Wage (NFLMW) at Rs.115 instead of Rs. 100 a day effective from April 1.

IAHV to train youths in Naxal affected areas

The International Association for Human Values ( IAHV - part of Art of Living Foundation, a not-for-profit, educational and humanitarian voluntary organization), is readying a long-term plan of skill development, an initiative that will target youth, mainly school dropouts across India, with a special focus on troubled areas.
