The Food Markets Commission (FMC) under the Consumer Affair Ministry currently employs 80 as against the prescribed strength of 135. A Parliamentary Panel has urged FMC to fill up all its vacant posts at the earliest. The Commission has been unable to do so because of lack of response, even though it has been advertising for job applications since 2005.
