Planting genetically modified trees like Poplar and Eucalyptus will fetch higher price for wood within 6 years that is way more than planting traditional crops like wheat rice and cereal even when the government has raised the Minimum Support Prices. These trees that initially bordered farm lands are now being raised as plantation sin many parts of Punjab and Haryana. The price of their wood has doubled within an year.
