Contrary to the reaction of general public, a PSU employee favours a petrol hike as a general allowance is pegged to the price of petrol and rises with every hike in petrol price. This allowance, car maintenance and insurance makes up for 20% of their salary. Employees can also be reimbursed for 47% of their taxed income in the form of trips made abroad and expenditures on home appliances such as personal computers. Soft loans of 3-4% are provided for car and homes as well as 100% medical cover is ensured for the entire family even after retirement. Off-shore posts are paid allowance for all days and a paid 2 week leave on returning home.
