The Union Cabinet approved the Bill that proposes to provide a quota for SC/ST promotions in government job promotions. This Bill is in contradiction with Supreme Court’s judgment that disallowed UP’s government under Mayawati to provide such a reservation in promotions to SC/ST communities, calling it unconstitutional.
